  • DIY Grit Guard Washboard

A few of you have probably seen the new Grit Guard washboards that allow you to properly clean your wash mitts between wipes. I can only assume it was created as the standard flat guard on the bottom never allowed you to put your hand (and therefore the entire mitt) completely flat. The new washboards are great, however they're somewhat expensive. Here's a DIY alternative from myself at AutoInstruct, and I am super impressed with how well it worked.

    Parts required:
x1 Large (Blue) Grit Guard (Waxit, CCP, ZAS etc)
x1 Autobarn (Black) Medium Grit Guard
    x4 Cable ties

Whilst it may appear that the Black Grit Guard would move around, it is rock solid as the cable ties are wedging it in place.

    Brilliant!

Cool. Looks like it'd be super useful.
..Must get a grit guard setup like this, although I rarely see any deposits in the bottom of the bucket after the weekly wash. ISM definitely helps the car stay clean
