  • Build Your Own Car Wash

    Hey all,

I've been washing my cars with the pressure washer + 2 bucket method, but sometimes I'm lazy and just foam the cars and rinse off.

The problem i find is that i do it less frequently because i have to get out the hose, get out the pressure washer, unravel the power extension cords, fill the buckets, wash the mits, run back and forth to the tap etc etc.

So i had an idea, what if you could recreate a drive up DIY car wash where you simply pull in the drive way, maybe flick a switch and have at it.

I did a little googling and came across this article:

Essentially he had the same idea, and made a great write up on how he implemented it.

Has anyone else ever tried this?

I'm in the process of researching which pump i'd need but essentially all i'd want is:

    - Constantly on water feed so i don't have to run to the tap
    - A simple on/off/timer to run the pump (or even better a constantly on pump)
    - A sprayer wand thats mounted to the wall around the side of garage
    - A boom arm attached to the bricks above the garage door so im not forever dangling/untangling hoses.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I like your style. Sounds like you are time poor on car maintenance. Have you thought about foam gun for hoses?
