  • Baby Benz Detail (In progress)

Ok thought I would test out my lack of detailing skill on the spare car so to speak. Paint in reasonable condition for 12 year old car given it has spent most if its life under cover. Some nasty scratches on the roof and rear spoiler which have had a crap touch up paint job by me as well. They really need wet sanding and a decent touch up paint go again.

I'm leaving those for another time. Annoyed Dan on his day off for some advice which was to start off slow and then work up. So I used a green pad with HD Cut and the Rocky on 3. Worked really well just used slow arm speed and kept it nice and slow. On the roof I have used HD Cut and then HD Speed.

Rest of the car will do with HD Speed tomorrow as final pass with a blue pad. Only slight issue seemed to be if I left it too long the HD cut seemed to be a bit sticky when removing. Just needed more elbow grease. There were some very small scratches and some tiny paint defects that I am not going to chase given this sits outside.

Unfortunately the lovely wife had left it sitting under a tree on a hot day and there were lots of tiny sap spots everywhere on the roof. The only way these could come off was with diluted Bars bug remover and a light fingernail. Took ages to get them all off.

First decon couldn't get much foamage with the CT18 I think is my crappy foam lance (old Bosch washer). Then used clay towel as prep. Was pretty busy and the lighting was shite in the garage (Bunnings was closed damm) so didn't get a lot of pics.

Thanks for the kind words Steve appreciate it very generous as usual, Thanks to Dan for his advice over the phone. Really happy with the Rocky and the HD pads and cut. I did try the black wool but it seemed to be sticking and heating up too much. So stayed with the green one on 3.

Looks good mate. Can't go wrong with a clean white car. Some crisp reflections there too!
Seems like the Rocky is a really good bang for buck machine.

              Great work so far.

Liking your logical not over the top approach to this.

Thanks guys, all done onto Passat now, camera battery dead will post pics later. Came up a treat with cut, speed and then some touchy touchy. HD Protect was good on the black plastic.

More pics unfortunately lighting was crap so not showing off the gloss well.

Used HD Protect on the black bits. Pretty happy with the way she came out. Must be karma or luck crazed local visitor decided answering her mobile was more important than looking where she was going and crashed right in the spot where I normally park it. Brand new Camry. Had it parked on the nature strip instead. I don't know how some numpties get a license.

Thks for everyone's compliments so far.
