This 2004 HSV GRANGE came to me looking pretty neglected. When I went to have a look at it a few weeks ago, it was obvious to me it was the “red headed stepchild’ of the house. Parked next to it was an amazing 1960’s Chevy Camaro show car, out the front was a totally cool 1950’s Buick (the new daily driver). And the wife’s car, TBH I’m still not sure what that is, maybe a prius, or corolla, as my attention was elsewhere.
So, back to our poor little redhead. I knew this was going to be a monster detail.
The owner simply wanted me to give it a cleanup so he could sell it. I was looking at it as an interview to detail the other more loved cars in the family.
After taking some PDG readings it was pretty obvious 120-150 microns this car had not been corrected since delivery and I had plenty of paint to work with. A good thing because under all the grunge it had it all going on... massive rids water spots swirl monsters, some bird bombs that had etched right through the clear,
Awesome test for the Bigfoot 21 and my new MF pads.

So I had the car for two weekends the first being spent on the inside the beige coloured leather actually turned out to be white and responded well to the 3D liquid Leather and the Brush attachment on the C900. The carpets, headlining and suede, got several vacs followed 3D carpet & upholstery cleaner. The plastic trim got the apc love and dressed with Perl.
Then it got tucked away for the week while the real job interfered.

    Now for the outside
It took 2 CT18 APC and Blizzard foamings lots of brush work and 3hrs to wash and remove all the tar and sap, then after Iron X, another hour to Prep towel the car. there was a ridiculous amount of contaminants stuck to the paint... The audio feedback from the towel was significant.
The wheels came off and got cleaned with 3D WHEEL BRIGHT.. this was the first time I had used this stuff.. I had it diluted 4:1 ...It work awesomely love it. unfortunately the rims were rashed to death and let the car down.
Once washed and under lights it was obvious some scratches would need sanding and the regime was going to be aggressive.
After some trials I just got the new Buff n Shine MF pad out with HD CUT on the Big Foot and went at it ... This was leaving significant marring behind but was cleaning up the defects nicely. I also used a 7.5 HD green pad on the BF with HD CUT for some of the less damaged areas, this was a great combo. I then went back for stage 2 with HD POLISH on the rupes white pad and LC CCS Black pads.
The door shuts got cleaned up with Prima Amigo. The rubber trim all got a healthy dose of Black Wow. Tires were dressed with 3D Magic Blue. Engine bay got cleaned with HD TOTAL and dressed with CARPRO PERL.

Total time not sure but must have been well over 30hrs I guess.

    Cheers for looking

The thing that you do, after your day job, in your free time, early in the morning or late at night. The thing you read about, write about, think about, fantasize about. that thing you do alone and theres no one to impress, nothing to prove, no money to be made, simply a passion to pursue. Thats it, thats your thing, thats your heart , your guide, Thats the thing you must, must do.

Excellent work, good on you. Surprising the owner let you have it for 30hrs considering its condition. I hope you charged accordingly, that was trashed.

Yeah I had the car for a couple of weeks so I probably didn't charge enough for the amount of work I put in to it but the owner was a great guy and actually paid me more than I asked for plus there will be more work in the future so its all good..

Absolutely phenomenal work Bluering, looks like you had everything thrown at you with this one and it seems you tackled it all with ease, well done. I have also recently acquired some Buff n Shine MF pads for my Rupes and looking forward to trying them out this weekend. Top stuff and good photos.
