I run both a Rocket Giotto (espresso) and a Hario (syphon). For grinders the main unit is a Mazzer Kony E. I also have a little Macap grinder set for a coarser grind for the Hario

In the grinder at the moment I have some very nice Costa Rica Tarrazu Vara Blanca Four Eighty from Chris at Talk Coffee. I also have some Sumatra Manheling Lake Toba Grade 1 Four Eighty, which is a little more acidic and will probably be better suited to a cleaner cup from the Hario rather than the espresso machine (though it can work happily in both I'm told)

The thing that you do, after your day job, in your free time, early in the morning or late at night. The thing you read about, write about, think about, fantasize about. that thing you do alone and theres no one to impress, nothing to prove, no money to be made, simply a passion to pursue. Thats it, thats your thing, thats your heart , your guide, Thats the thing you must, must do.

Just my basic setup in the kitchen corner. Handy dedicated sink and filtered water handy nothing fancy but does the job.

Some beans i will be roasting as needed.

Thanks Mitch. The grinder on the left is a Eureka Mignon and a Bezzera BB 95 on the right

I can imagine some awesome coffee from your setup

Haha so many coffee machine brands...

How do you go roasting beans? I've never given it a go. I got scared off when i saw the giant probat with pc attached and a roasting profile monitoring temps with probes and shit when i bought my VBM.

Awwwwwwww shit yeah. I find it really hard to spend money on coffee out and about because i feel robbed when it's not good. If you're ever near Berkeley come over and i'll make you one or 4

Caffine fiend probably wins the best machine here though, the Rocket has a bit more finesse over my VBM. My mate has a Giotto V3 and the E61 lever is much nicer than mine, the switch on mine is pretty shit. He's got the Kony too so much faster than my Mini lol, shits so slow.... 27 seconds for 20 grams LOL

I roast in an air popper so its pretty much no frills roasting with no real variables to worry about. I wouldnt mind a Behmor or a Gene Cafe one day.

Dan wins the internet every time with his cars and coffee machine. I will upgrade once the Breville dies but not sure what to get. as you said too many choices

I recently purchased a bag of filter roasted Finca Hartman Panama from Industry Beans in Melbourne. Tasty little number.

Seeing as I've never used filter roasted beans I have had to dial in my process to accommodate.

                        Looks the goods!

Do you guys have a favourite sort of origin? Country? Style? etc

I think the best cup i have had was a seasonal blend from code black that was from two ethiopian farms, one was a natural and one was a washed. 75% washed, 25% natural, oh god it was good.

Next Purchase going to be a Hot-Top or Behmor Dan????

I've got an air-roaster - a very nice Alpenroast and a Hot-Top. The Hot Top is my favourite

It adds another dimension (and level of satisfaction) doing it yourself - - - be it Roasting Coffee - - - making Bread - - - or Detailing a car to the Nth degree :-)
